Privacy policy

Information we use

We collect the name and email you provide, account and membership details, saved places and lists, contributions and evidence you submit, reports, support messages, and account activity needed to operate and protect the service. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Hosting and security systems may record IP addresses and request information.

Google sign-in

If you choose Google sign-in, Google supplies your account identifier, verified email and basic profile information. We use these to create or identify your account and sign you in. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive or your contacts. Google account data is not sold or used for advertising.

Payments and service providers

Stripe processes membership payments. Card details are entered with Stripe; Halal Food Circle stores customer and subscription references, membership status and access dates. Hostinger provides website hosting and email delivery. Google provides optional sign-in. These providers may process information outside Australia according to their own privacy policies and infrastructure locations.

Maps, location and cookies

Map tiles are supplied by OpenStreetMap. Maps only load after you choose Show map, and your browser remembers that choice. When a map loads, your browser sends network information, including your IP address, to OpenStreetMap. Nearby search requests location only with your browser permission; you can search by suburb without sharing location. We use cookies for sign-in sessions and sign-in security, and browser storage for interface preferences.

Usage statistics

We count page visits on our own server to understand how the site is used. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or session recording, and we never record what you type. Fonts and images are served from our own server, not from font or image services. A visitor is counted once per day using a code that changes every day and cannot be linked back to you; we do not store IP addresses for these counts. For signed-in members we record the last time the account was active.

Where listing information comes from

Listings are compiled from publicly available information, what businesses publish about themselves, information businesses send us directly, and reports from our community. We keep our source records for checking and do not publish other directories' content.

Public contributions

Reviewed listing information may appear publicly. Your chosen display name may appear with community activity and on the leaderboard when you opt in. Do not submit private information about another person or evidence you do not have permission to share. Contact messages and account email addresses are not displayed as public listing content.

Why we keep information

We use information to provide discovery and account features, process memberships, review contributions, respond to requests, send service messages and prevent abuse. Records are kept while needed for these purposes, dispute handling and applicable recordkeeping obligations. Access to administration and private records is restricted. Backups may retain earlier copies while they remain in use.

Emails

We send account and service emails, such as sign-in links, receipts, payment notices and renewal reminders. We only send newsletters or promotional emails if you ask for them, and every one includes an unsubscribe link and our contact details. When we contact a business about its listing, we use only contact details the business publishes, say who we are and why we are writing, and stop if asked.

Children

Halal Food Circle is not designed for children. You must be 16 or older to create an account, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 16 has given us personal information without that permission, contact us and we will delete it.

Visitors outside Australia

We apply the same practices to every visitor. If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, we rely on these legal bases: providing the service you ask for (accounts, saved places, memberships), our legitimate interests in running and protecting the service (security, abuse prevention and cookie-free visit counts), and your consent (location, maps and optional Google sign-in). You can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not use it for automated decisions that significantly affect you.

Your choices and requests

You can edit your display name and leaderboard preference in your profile. Contact us to request access, correction, account deletion or help with a privacy concern through contact form or support@halalfoodcircle.com.au. We may ask you to verify account ownership. We will explain any records that must be retained. You can also remove Google access from your Google account settings; this does not automatically cancel a paid membership.

Complaints and changes

Contact MADEXIFY using the details above so we can investigate. If a privacy issue remains unresolved, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner provides information about available complaint options. We will update this page when our practices change.
